About

Scalene Studios takes a classic approach to design. However, there will always be a “twist” to the piece. Much like a Scalene Triangle; the most basic shape made with straight edges, each side and angle of the triangle is different, thereby giving the triangle its own unique shape.

Beginning Adventures

In the spring of 2018, I started my first project, making myself a pair of shorts. The best thing I could have done was to jump right in, without thought or expectations. I ripped a pair of old shorts apart, salvaged the pattern, cut out each piece of a lightweight black cotton and began sewing. The shorts took me about two weeks to complete and were absolutely nothing special. They had side seam pockets, a working fly sewn completely wrong, and a huge button. But I made them, so I wore them everywhere.

Now only 2 short years later I am so excited to release my first collection.

The Process

Before starting a project, I look at all the fabrics I have on hand, including past projects that didn’t fully workout. I then begin by drawing an idea of what the finished garment will look like. Then, without over analysing, I start cutting out the pattern pieces. Sometime later the item is finished. I don’t want to overthink my garments, instead I love to figure things out as I work toward the vision in my mind. I love the adventure of the process.

Through the working stage I continue to imagine new looks that I am eager to explore in my next collections. I find the design and production of my garments a very exciting outlet for my creativity and I love the fact that I have the skills and abilities to put my design ideas out into this world. I want Scalene Studios to be a platform for my work where clients will know who and where their garments are made, both Ethically and Sustainably.
